Flint Axe or Chisel - This elongated polished flint axe-head, probably a chisel, was found on the edge of Caerau Brickworks quarry in the 1960s. The Brickworks was located at the top of Church Road just beneath Caerau Hillfort. (Photo copyright Viv Thomas).
Unfinished Flint Axe - This flint axe-head was found half-buried in soil overlooking the River Ely along Pethyrbridge Road. Some ‘flakes’ have been removed to create the shape of an axe-head. However, it was lost or deposited before it could be finished by grinding and polishing to create smooth surfaces. (Photo copyright Viv Thomas).
