Elizabethan Coin - This is an Elizabethan silver groat dated AD1600. It was found during excavations in 2016 at the deserted Medieval village of Michaelston-super-Ely near to St Michael’s Church. During the Medieval period the area now known as Caerau and Ely was defined by a number of small villages each with their own church and castle or lordly residence. (Photo copyright CAER Heritage).
